Assignment

not sure which forum this should be in so i put it here....(more people relevant to this frequent this forum more regularly)

I'm doing a photography assignment on the history and progression of skateboard photography.
It seems its a bit more frustrating than i thought it would be...

I want to talk about how skateboarding photography changed and progressed with skateboarding itself. Like, from street surfing to vert ramp competition stuff, and then to street skating. And also how skateboarding was/is used for commercial advertising *cough*mick on milo*cough.
Other things i wanted to thouch on were how technology affected skateboarding photography. Like digital, and flash improvements and things like that.

I wanted to ask if anyone had anything to add which might help, like a link to something about this, or some old pictures from a mag.

ask drew, he's old and takes photos.
or go through the photos section and see the old photos and see if someone has their email because they would be your best bet.

for examples just get some names of old school skate photogs and search their gallery's, most of them have websites

http://www.brycekanights.com/
http://www.mikeomeally.com/

For the technology section you could easily argue the other way, many skate photos are still shot on 50 year old cameras with 20+ year old flashes

some old skateboard journal's have articles on this subject, I think it was last issue that had an article about the Nikon FM2

it might not help but have you watched the doco 'dogtown and the z-boys'?
it has all the old photos and crap from back then and there is a whole like 5 minute section on photos.
but there is a bare patch after that....
try looking at like the thrasher archives and stuff like that.
then if you can, watch 'the man who souled the world' its all about like 90's skating and then just take samples from film section for today.
hope any of this helps.....

look in issue 9 of the skateboarders journal, there's a sick article on the evolution of skate photography & the part the NIkon FM2 played in it.

Andre C is right. maybe i should read all the posts first
