Wow. I had the live feed on at work last year and was pretty impressed with how fast they were taking mount panorama. Not a big long board fan, but respect where it's due.

That course looks heavy!

neeburn 10:22 16/Sep/13

Drew,
Prize money TBA.....stay tuned.

Josh,
This course is not only just for longboards, it is for ANY skateboarder that has the requiste balls!
The course is an Adam Luxford creation, so you know it will be skateable, but because it demountable, and uses the existing roads an intelligent wheel choice will need to be made.

So if you can ride big ramps, and enjoy plenty of air time, and reckon that you are good enough to show the world that short-boarders are better than long-boarders, then you will be more than welcome to step up!

This won't be one of those events judged on style or tricks, it's a race, and when that flag drops, the bullshit stops!

can longboards seriously do those jumps? I dont think I've ever seen a longboard leave the ground

neeburn 10:46 16/Sep/13

Drew,
Lux uses the same theory as American aircraft designers..... put enough jet engines on it and you can make a brick fly!
Thats why the ramps are big!
Seriously though, the skateboarders that can do this don't give a shit about board size.

but skateboarding is all about STYLE.....

After years of watching Bathurst as a kid I know Mt Panorama is no joke. I respect people taking it on regardless of my personal view of longboards. It takes guts and skill for sure.

I would be very surprised if anyone attempts this course on a longboard. Looking through mags with full page longboard ads (like concrete wave ect) it is rare to see a longboard photo with any air at all. A 5m gap on a longboard? Doubt it. Maybe Ollie Hornz will make a comeback?

I reckon if there is a decent purse (ASRA usually come up with the goods in that department) the tranny/park dogs will step up and it should be rad to watch. Luxford is a great builder/designer so you would reckon it will work!

It's a different concept and could possibly work, but I figured the course would be better with some corners/burms to carve on, like they do in the Snowboard Border-x events.

You are on the right track with thinking that it is something a bit like SnowBoarder-X.
The pic does not show it well, but the 1/4 pipes are the "burms" !
Check the vid....room for two skaters!
As to the gaps. The ramps are set according to the hill. The steeper the hill, the faster you can go, and the bigger the gaps.

Like Josh says, getting tranny and park dogs to step up next to their racing brothers will make it rad, and that's what we all want!

'big scary gap' ahhaha fuck yeah

It would be great (and a crowd) pleaser for a best trick comp on one of the obstacles

neeburn 14:11 17/Sep/13

Josh,
Nice idea!
Will have to see if there is time for tricks.
Will you and Flaz be able to step in as the judges???
