For immediate release;

Hoon Skateboards signs licensing agreement with Heavyweight.

Heavyweight Brands, the Australian based home of Picture Wheel Co and Holiday Skateboards are proud to announce the signing of Hoon Skateboards.

The agreement brings Hoon Skateboards manufacturing and worldwide distribution under Heavyweights management commencing immediately.

“I am very excited to be announcing this new partnership with Andrew Currie and Hoon Skateboards today” said Heavyweight Brands Director Ben O’Neil. “Cuzza has been a staple in the industry since before I had even picked up a board. The licensing agreement is more than just a mechanism to add another brand under our roof and distribution list. We both have a huge belief and shared interest in Australian brands and take a lot of pride in the local industry. I’m looking forward to cementing the brand long term here in Australia and building it into the International scene while backing Australian skateboarders”.

“Since Hoon kicked off as a company in 2006 we’ve been puttin’ along, tinkering with the engine, givin’ it a decent rev once in a while” comments Hoon’s founder, Creative Director and Pro skater, Andrew ‘Cuzza’ Currie. “However, with Heavyweight’s Benny O’Neil sharing my vision for the future of Hoon Skateboards, it really feels like we’re about to drop the peddle to the floor and really give it some!”

Hoon will have a summer hardware range available in-stores November 20th.

Hoon has been exclusively available in Australia but will now be offered worldwide through the distribution channels used currently by Heavyweight for its existing brands.

Hi Ben, Good to hear more things besides dinner invitiations for for 4128. Just curious as some kids I know love riding Hoon boards (on Blackbox wood) but not sure now as distro changing in this manner will mean a change of wood as well. Is it going to be same as Holiday (Absolute wood isn't it??) or something else? Nothing wrong with Absolute wood, but a lot of people I know (self included) just can't ride them - feels like the wrong shape. kicks, etc.

From what others have said who have been riding them since the first lot, I know there has been some ups and downs with the different wood used for Hoon but those last ones seemed like they had the most interest since the second lot with the massive concave and long kicks.

Hope it works though!!!

Hi mark, good seeing you the other day. Holiday hasn't had a run on Absolute wood since middle of last year (2012). So no- it will not be on absolute wood. It will be on the same wood as holiday for summer 13 and than we will have a few new things again in 2014. All existing stock that we purchased from blackbox as apart of the agreement is blackbox wood but is now on sale for $69.95 in all stores. Cheers.

Which wood is Holiday on now?

Walker94 - a couple to be honest but if you've ridden Holiday this year that's what Hoon summer will be.

Mark - I didn't read everything from your post either, current shapes and lengths are thanks to Cuzza and being that he is still at the helm of Hoon with Heavyweight handling the business end I'd say the future for the shapes, sizes and quality is bright as ever!
