Today, Converse announces the launch of CONS Project: Melbourne, continuing the series of global community projects designed to inspire the next generation of creative spirits through music, art, style and sport via Converse CONS.
A first time Australian event hosted over the course of two weekends, CONS Project: Melbourne offers hands on ‘Do It Yourself’ workshops at no cost, led by an expert roster of renowned legends and up-and-coming icons. Global Converse CONS ambassadors Kenny Anderson, Nick Trapasso and Mike Anderson along with locals Andrew Brophy, Bryce Golder, and Dean Palmer will also be in attendance to contribute their expertise to the workshop sessions.

CONS Project: Melbourne will take place at 17-23 Wills Street, Melbourne and opens on June 7, 2014. During the weeks following the workshops, Converse will host a celebration where the work created from the CONS Project: Melbourne workshops can be enjoyed by the broader community.
Saturday, June 7
SKATE OBSTACLE WORKSHOP (WOOD) 12PM – 5PM This workshop provides hands on experience for learning how to make transitional ramps, driveway blocks, and master the art of flat bank construction with Tom Flaherty and the Converse CONS Skate Team.
Sunday, June 8
‘DO IT YOURSELF’ SKATE SPOTS (CONCRETE) 12PM – 5PM This workshop will allow participants to gain experience in mixing concrete, building a besser brick ledge and transforming any space into a personal skate spot. Featuring Marcello Guardigli, Andrew Brophy and the Converse CONS Skate Team.
Saturday, June 14
HOW TO SHOOT SKATEBOARDING PHOTOS 12PM – 5PM with Andrew Peters, Bryce Golder and the Converse CONS Skate Team, take skate photos to the next level. Participants will join leading skate photographers to learn what it takes to create that great shot, then put those new skills to use shooting Converse CONS Ambassadors as they skate the CONS Project’s newly created concrete and wood obstacles.
Sunday, June 15
MAKE YOUR OWN SKATEBOARDING VIDEOS 12PM – 5PM Skateboarding video producer Su Young Choi along with the Converse CONS Skate Team lead a videography workshop based on creating skateboarding videos. At the end of the workshop put learning into practice, filming the Converse CONS skate team, and creating an original edit.
What an excellent idea. Good to see a marketing budget being put to injecting skills and enthusiasm into DIY skate culture
