Chatswood Skate Park

mosu101 20:30 09/Aug/04

Anyone one else been to Chatswood Skate Park recently? Have you noticed how the concrete is very rough, spoilling an otherwise excellent setup. And whats with the uneven ground in the carve bowl.

Is it worth emailling Chatswood council for a new park?

Justin Sawell 13:32 03/Nov/05

Couldn't agree more, mosu101, I work in the building opposite and skate it regularly. Pretty disappointing result all round.

We should ask the council to build a replica of the Olympic Park ramp on that massive oval next to the skatepark. That's a total waste of grass - all people do is stand around in white pants and chase a little ball that one of em wacks with a stick.

Did they sand blast that stupid anto graff stuff off? Maybe that's why the crete is in poor shape.

Justin Sawell 15:58 03/Nov/05

Don't know if they've done any blasting, but the graff is pretty bad. There's been a lot done in the last few days - red & blue in the bowl area and a lovely blue line on the coping of the half pipe. Paint + metal = stops a 50-50 or FS grid cold. Nasty.

I had the opportunity to murder two little punks yesterday who had the hide to spray while I was riding it - but I think they were trying to cover up an insult that someone previously had written about them.

Maybe a government tax on spray paint and a business rebate that makes it affordable for builders & artists but not for little punx? Or will that just increase the crime rate like the tax on cigarettes has done? Hmmmmm.

That park is shit, not worth it.

Well kids under the age of 16 aren't supposed to buy the spray-paint from the shops anyway. Parents are to be blamed in my opinion - and a Government tax on spray paint is a foolish idea, as it'd only make it more expensive, not disolve the problem.

amazing it only took a year or so to get a reply to this thread

you should just get that crazy Lachlan guy to bring some cement and fix it.

he seems to have no problem bringing steel wool and scrubbing every bit of wax off the coping.

Pretty much my local park. Box is always good for a throw down. Yeah the concrete is saddening. Ledges for life, but.

<sarcasm>i love it how wit that park, the rail thing is just soooooooo low i love it.........</sarcasm> (thanks kweig for that idea of the sarcasm thing)

that whole park is a pile of crap.... it cant really be fixed... thats how crap it is.... that being said, there is no way the council would consider ripping it up, and starting again... they might build another one sumwhere else though

on the upside, i learnt bs 50-50's there, thanks to stu hutch! :D........ thanks stu hutch

bryce. 21:51 08/Nov/05

there not ripping it up, he said fixing it or something

ejacula 21:57 08/Nov/05

yeh i heard something similar from a local, said they would try to get rid of that garden crap in the middle of the park, hopefully they will also mention something about extending the park out past the gates, cos that area is just a waste of perfectly good skate space.

Justin Sawell 09:59 09/Nov/05

The least they could do is extend the platform of the quarter-pipe at the right hand edge of the bowl. Rolling in over the hump then launching air off there is dangerous, bacause of the rails and the garden RIGHT THERE in the landing zone.

Would it be too much to ask for a mini ramp in the garden area - just move the brick sculpture over a bit...
