St Kilda Park Last meeting the last council meeting to approve StKilda skatepark is on Monday. Two weeks ago it was approved by part of the council at a meeting where people for, and against it argued their points. At that meeting the skatepark was unanimously approved by the council but had strong opposition from some residents. At the next stage a week later when
the issue went to Parks Victoria, it again had strong opposition, but the skatepark got the approval thanks to a lot of skaters emailing the MP John Thwaites.
This last meeting wouldnt normally require skaters presence but as there is such a strong opposition to the skatepark it is important that there is skaters there showing the council that we support it. Noone at this meeting gets to voice any opinion, it is just for council to make their final decision. If all the opponents go, and no skaters the council could possibly change their mind.
If you can make it, it would be great... also, thanks to all the crew that wrote emails and went to the last meeting... the word is that we wouldnt be getting the park if these crew didnt come to the last meeting, and write the emails we wouldnt be on the verge of getting
the park.

Council meeting last night went really well. The councillors unanimously passed the skatepark proposal so it?s going ahead!
It was a contentious location for the park and it was the supporters who made it happen. Thanks to everyone who emailed, called, showed up and supported this project. More info on the design will be coming in the next few months.
