CALLAN PARK (ROZELLE) Below are the two options for the Callan Park facility which are currently on "public exhibit". You can log onto the following site, take the survey and have your say regarding the design. One of two options will be decided on by April. PLEASE NOTE: a few things are subject to change E.G The paved surfaces. Stay tuned. http://www.leichhardt.nsw.gov.au/…/Draft-Concept-Plans-Regi…

Both options are very similar it looks like so it's hard to have a strong opinion. Option 2 having a bit more street in the mix but keeping lots of the same features ending up a little more cramped.
Sydney skateboarders, you have a great opportunity here. I'm surprised you aren't being more engaged?
If this is the design approved by the locals who turned up to community meetings then all good.
But - if it's something that the designers have put forward as a first draft, I think there should be a Plaza style alternative - option 3. It's obvious what the new gen want to skate. Waterloo gets traffic from all areas of Sydney daily because it's what's relevant. Keeping in mind five dock and glebe mini are around the corner from this.
Option 1 came from the designers, and Option 2 was revised with input from a couple of locals with less emphasis on street elements.
Neither design is flawless, but the biggest problem is people not turning up to these meetings to throw in ideas.
I didn't make the last meeting but agree another 3rd plaza design is worth considering.
