I have a 6 year old who's really wanting a "hand board" can any of you point me in the right direction to buy 1 or 2

Do you want a handboard (just under 30 cm long) or a fingerboard (about 10 cm long) because they are two different things.
Fingerboards are everywhere (check ebay for FINGERBOARD with all accessories, ramps, etc) and very cheap.
Handboards are super hard to come by, eg ebay for $175 right now as per pic:
Some info / video on fingerboards or as a lot of people call them, Tech Deck (a brand of fingerboard).

For a kid this would be pretty awesome, but I forgot how sad this is that a grown man is playing with this.
Each to their own.
We had crazy set ups as kids, but once learning how to ride a real skateboard, no tech deck or video game can compare to the real thing.
