Board Company

Scro 15:52 17/Sep/08

Hi everyone, I'm looking at setting up my own board company out of perth and I just wanted to see if anyone had any feedback in what they look for in a board, and how much they think is reasonable to pay. Cheers Guys.

try really hard not to make it look like you're trying really hard. go to city beach and look at the cheap boards and try and avoid that. If you can actually make em decent boards go out and get a reputation and the kids will buy em. I probly wouldn't pay more that $60 for a no name board...but then if you charge like $120 each people automatically think they're good and they'll buy em, works the other way too make em too cheap people know they're getting what they pay for. fuck man you should seriously consider hiring me as a consultant.

on a serious note mate

tommy was kinda on the ball, like he's right in thinking that if u were to sell a board at 120 ppl would think its good.. but how many would you sell in say a week month etc etc... as compared to the 60 board ppl would buy more often... but then profits and so forth...

now for my personal advice...

why you starting a company, cause the basis of your sales will be determined through what you want to do with your company, are you doing it to help out your local scene, or you going to try and become a multi million company... best advice is to go and meet alot of the ppl that are involved with the industry... knowledge is power...

pillss - 77 is a blank / price point brand that we do. Yeah the graphics are simple, but it's either that or blank. The focus with 77 is on quality at a cheaper price rather than spending time and money on graphics which would only increase the price.
Name another brand that does a $70.00 (RRP) USA made deck.

Our graphic based brand is here http://www.elanskateboards.com . Much different.

Anyway, good luck Scro. Make sure you're doing it for the love of it, because it's tough starting out and you'll need that passion to stick with it. Even with the occasional hate it's really enjoyable and you learn a lot quickly.
