Those Element advertisements are so dumb.
I respect Corbin Harris as rad skateboarder. But why advertise him as a 'TV Host'?
I respect Chad Muska as a great skateboarder who was one of the pioneers of huge rails. Why should Element advertise him as a 'DJ'. Who gives a fuck if Muska is a second-rate DJ playing electro in some LA club.
Element is a skateboard company. So promote your skateboarders as just that - skateboarders. We are impressed by their exceptional SKATEBOARDING skills, not some pretentious, second-rate side-career as a 'DJ' or 'Designer'.
That's bullshit.
And you even call Bam Margera a 'film maker'. Come on! Hanging around with Johnny Knoxville is not 'film making'.
As for Mike Vallely's band...have you heard them? They're atrocious!
Element, you're a skateboard company. So stick to skateboarding. Don't try to turn your riders into cheap 'celebrities'. That's enough for us.

It's like Element want 'celebrities' to be their riders. We don't want that shit. The skateboarding world is so rad BECAUSE skaters don't care about the pretentious, commercial greasy pole.

I don't see Baker advertising Dustin as a 'skateboarder / drunk'.

Anyway, my point remains valid. Element, stop trying to impress us with mediocre references that cheapen the skateboarding skills of your riders.

element are just showing off their riders other talents/occupations, which im guessing they all got a step closer to doing because of skateboarding or are things that influence there skateboarding/style.
like how corbins a tv host, if he never skated, i dont think he'd be one.
just concentrate on the skating if it bothers you. no reason to have a whinge

If BAM was kicked off element, they would make No-Money at all and will fall into the same heap as companies such as City Stars etc.
Element has one of the worst teams in skateboarding.(except for jack crook and fardell).
But look, there image sells.
A 13 year old kid is in the skateshop about to buy his first setup- What will win him over?? THE BAM DECK, because "bam is cool" his image sells, therefore he makes element money! Correct?
So regardless of his "shit ability to skate compared to other pros" he makes money for all his sponsors!
Skateboarding is now so commerical the main factor for companies is to make as much money as they can.
What's good about being a TV Host? That doesn't require any talent.
Corbin is a ripper who deserves to be pro. I respect that. He is belittled by being advertised as a 'TV host'. Anybody can talk to a camera. Big deal.

It's not 'having a whinge'. I'm analysing an advertisement. I don't want to see skateboarding turned into a cheap attempt for credibility and notoriety, like AFL or other pro sports. We don't have to be naively 'positive' all the time.
That's bullshit. Element would sell decks without Bam. They've been around for much longer than he has.
Toy Machine lost Bam and they're doing fine.
I doubt that Jacks Crook and Fardell affect the board sales. They aren't pro and they're not (yet) on the international team anyway.
