> MELBOURNE SAILYARDS MEMORIES...
This is the thread for memories of the Sailyards in Melbourne.
I spent thousands of hours there when I was a teenager.
Remember when Will Stoyles kickflipped the fence off the metal bank?
Or remember when that little Italian thug who lived under the ramps, Sevs, did the kickflip off the wedge ramp, over the fence from the top level to the lower level?
Or what about Glen Slater and Egg (aka the two Tom Pennys). They ripped, when they weren't too ripped (eh eh).
What happened to mini-ramp?
Include Flatlands memories too....
yeah i have vague memories of the mini getting burnt down????? i was only young when sailyards was around i only skated their like 2 or 3 times...i remember geoff rowley was skating their when i was like 12 and had these 3 hot as aussie girls just lapping up everything he said to them...then he walked off with all 3 of them......lucky pom
thats crzy that will kickflipped over the fence!!!! he just recently started working at riverslide with me. theirs a sale yards vid the ymca through together at rivers for sale
I was living in the fire station on st georges road and had permission to move the mini ther and then some smakie burt it! Bugger!
I remember doing first aid on a kids head and watching some smackie steal my deck!
Remember the blue bench? The leg munter?
Memory that stands out the most would be the Boom skater Levi Hawkins, fuck
He ripped. Slappy 50-50s on the small concrete ledge
It didn't make sense at the time
that line of ledges was a grom training ground. So good!
Sailyards was the best, the thrill of just rocking up with a your crew was enough
We got dropped off one time by this asian friend of ours.. well his mum drove us in. And she was a reeeaaal tight arse asian mum..
it was a Sunny day, we get out and head straight into the park all psyched.. skaters everywhere!
Seconds later out of nowhere we hear some lady screaming from the gates, "ANTHONY! YOU FO'GOT YOUR SUNSCREEN!!!"
He never lived it down.
Where are the Kew hill runs mentioned in your profile Joshua?? Kew born n bred son!
Just mainly from the top of the hills at the kew side of the river down towards richmond. Nothing special, i just like the long flat speedhumps you can ollie
i like that fun spot behind the merc dealership with the little driveway bumps
Main Memory for me was seeing strubing boardslide up through the kinks at the emerica demo
i went there on a scooter. and spike buchannan said to me "hey isnt this the SKATEpark, not the SCOOTERpark."
i said. "YES. its the skatepark." and did a dope tailwhip.
i spent a fair chunk of time skating those ledges from about 97 until it's demise.
i def remember the two penny's and levi (i recall him skating in swimming goggles at one point - mad fashion).
i remember seeing chris wood for the first time - ollieing the road gap next to the park.
junkies overdosing, NYE at the park (when you didn't have to worry about getting stabbed)
who was that guy who worked there that would do 1 foot manuals and 2 foot nose manuals around the park?
Lynden. I am always surprised/pleased to see him alive when I do.
Anyone seen him for a while?
