Guy Gibbons resigns from the board and Renton Millar has been appointed to the casual vacancy of Chairman of the Australian Skateboarding Federation.
Inaugural chairman, Guy Gibbons has resigned his board position with the Australian Skateboarding Federation Ltd, effective 07 August 2018. His decision to resign was made after four years of volunteering for skateboarding.
With the advent of the S2020 Commission, Mr Gibbons felt the time was right to hand the batten to somebody else.
The Australian Skateboarding Federation (ASF) is the only national representative body dedicated solely to skateboarding. The ASF has been built on passion by skateboarders with key support by experienced sport and business administrators. The long-term objective of the ASF is to grow participation, oversee organised competitive skateboarding, and to provide pathways of development from grass roots to elite in all disciplines.
Renton Millar was elected as Chairman to fill the casual vacancy.
“We would like to thank Guy for his volunteered services to ASF over the past four years. Guy was instrumental in the foundation of ASF and we will be forever grateful for his enormous contribution to our sport,” said Mr Millar.
“I am humbled to have been voted into the role of Interim Chairman. The present is a historic time for skateboarding. I will be putting my focus on empowering skateboarders and facilitating our own having the biggest influence on the activity and culture we love so much.”
The permanent Chairman position will be formally voted upon at next month’s Annual General Meeting.
