NEW UNLISTED PARKS

Jakub Zverina 17:56 20/Apr/06

Good day all. My name is Jakub Zverina and I am a Sydney skateboard enthusiast. I have just joined Skateboard.com.au and I will be posting up a heap of new parks here over the next few weeks as long as uni/work/skate time permits. Skate hard and respect locals!

Jakub Zverina 17:59 20/Apr/06

Location: Bullinda street (main street through town), in the oval, visible from Yeulbah Street

Description: All metal skate setup. Stepped four/five foot quarter one side, four footer on the other side, three foot volcano centre, three foot spine, grind rail, interesting one foot wedge to wedge with a slide rail in the centre (not seen very often).

Binnaway Skatepark Pic2

Jakub Zverina 18:02 20/Apr/06

Location: Blacktown Pools. Off Devitt St, Blacktown

Description: This is what $15000 would get you back in the early ninties: a very nice solid steel eight footer with large platform (soft foam on ground adjacent extra). The ramp is very good to roll on except the flat is a little warbly. It will cost you to skate (about $4), it does get hot in summer and you do need pads and a helmet. You can jump into the pool after with your entry fee. It is a short downhill roll from the station and there is free parking, snacks and beverages on site. Do not leave valuables in your car in this area, ours got broken into.

Blacktown Halfpipe

Jakub Zverina 18:06 20/Apr/06

Location: Linsley Street, Drummond Park
Description: Halfpipe is gone. Two six foot quarters which are spaced rather far apart. There is also a fun box with rail as well as various other rails and kickers dropped throughout the park. The floor is bitumen and the old vert ramp is gone.

Cobar Skatepark

Jakub Zverina 18:07 20/Apr/06

Location: Chappell Ave (main drag in the town), in the recreation reserve towards the end of Gordon street

Description: New pre fab park assembled 05 in a very sexy baby blue shade. Six feet roll-ins either side, five feet quarter, twin four feet quarters, one foot volcano joined to a slide rail with a one foot hump on the other side. If your heading through the town on the Newell/Oxley Highway, you will drive straight past it. Watch out for stray livestock on your way into this town. Very smooth and flowing setup. Well done Coonabarrabran.

Coonabarabran

Jakub Zverina 18:10 20/Apr/06

Location: Jersey Road, Emmerton (part of the swimming center)

Description: Metal spine ramp with humps either side. Ranges from four foot to five foot with various grades of steepness. The platform is rather small on one side too. The swimming center is currently under renovation however the ramp should stay when it reopens. This is real ghetto country so don?t look at anyone the wrong way.

Emmerton Spine Ramp

Jakub Zverina 18:12 20/Apr/06

Location: In Rotary Park next to the pool near where the Newell Highway and Oxley Highway intersect

Description: Good wedge to wedge, dodgy four feet quarter on the left, decent three feet and four feet stepped quarter on the right. Good multipurpose funbox with quarter sides, wedge sides, two slide rails and box/rail on top. Bring a leaf blower for this one because as you can see from the photos it?s a bit ?how ya going?. On the plus side it does have a shade cloth over the top.

Gilgandra

Jakub Zverina 18:14 20/Apr/06

Location: View st, Wandobah Reserve, opposite the showground, south of the Oxley hwy

Description: six feet steel half pipe, unique three feet quarter which backs onto a five feet high brick wall (for wallrides), three feet high pyramid with grind rail). There will have to be more added to this site in the future for it to be more usable but what is here now is really great.

Gunnedah Skatepark

Jakub Zverina 18:15 20/Apr/06

These pics do not do this park justice. The quarter wall ride is awesome

Gunnedah Skatepark

Jakub Zverina 18:17 20/Apr/06

Location: Mitchell Ave, visible from Alpine Way, behind the pool

Description: opposing four foot roll ins, opposing five foot quarters, one foot rail not bolted down, one foot volcano, one foot hump, slide rail between hump and volcano. Stumbled upon this one by accident when passing through the snowy mountains. It is a very small town. Sorry for the dodgy photo on this one, it was taken during winter just before the sun went down.

Khancoban

Jakub Zverina 18:19 20/Apr/06

Location: Golden Highway (the main road and way in and out of town), Merriwah

Description: Two hours drive from Tamworth, Dubbo, Newcastle or Mudgee, this skatepark is in the middle of nowhere. It is an ideal stopover location if your out and about. Those people from Muswellbrook might recognise this as their old PCYC setup. Suckers! Five foot half pipe, four foot roll in, one foot hump and grind box all on a large smooth conrete slab. Decent roll, don?t head too far out ofyour way for it though.

Merriwa

Jakub Zverina 18:22 20/Apr/06

Location: Corner of Miller and Falcon Street at St Leonards Park
Description: Old halfpipe about 6ft high. Painted surface with some minor deviations but overall good pipe to roll on. Pretty limited to straight up and down trick though.

North Sydney Halfpipe

Jakub Zverina 18:24 20/Apr/06

Location: Hollaway Road, South Nowra (Part of the PCYC complex)
Description: Old halfpipe about 6ft high. Useless two foot spine, two foot launch ramp, one foot launch ramp and half foot rail. The rail is good, the metal halfpipe is good but the rest is rubbish. How can you put these objects in without giving them a run up? There is also a good dirt track behind the skate facility. Don?t know what the story is with entry but I got in through a hole in the fence and I was not challenged. The park is located in the middle of nowhere.
