Gold Coast Skate Park on the Beach at Broadbeach

Albert. 09:10 18/Aug/06

G'day,

Remember how I said that there was big money hanging round to do up Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach. Well the process has started. The first community meeting will be held on Monday 21 August 6 - 8pm at the Life Education Centre - 89 Sunshine Boulevard Broadbeach. If no one turns up and says they want a skatepark there then they will not even think about building one. There is plenty of space and plenty of money, the issue just needs to be raised. I will keep the idea alive from the inside but the idea needs to come from the community to gain momentum. Hope you can make it. Pass this on to others if you wish.

10 bucks says some 40 year old burnout has majority say about the parks design and most the funds end up going into some horrid transition hell hole with a 2 stair ledge as the 'street section'

Albert. 13:30 18/Aug/06

10 bucks says it's me, lovell and maybe saul as the only ones showing. if some cool street dudes want to turn up that would be great, but didn't see 1 street skater at the meetings last week for the pines.

street plazas are planned for the entire gold coast, - stephens street plaza, varcity street plaza, nerang street plaza, if southport goes ahead street plaza

we're still waiting on a decent bowl

would be great to see some people actually turn up to these meetings rather than complain after the fact.

A big fucking bowl with a 2 stair ledge as the street section sounds good to me

Maybe the street skaters could just go and ride... the streets

Thats a pretty novel idea......especially considering the Coast is a street skaters paradise

They should just have some rough asphalt and a pedestrian crossing with a lollypop lady for the street section. Can't tell me that's not street.

hardcore!

b3nt@ng3l 16:53 18/Aug/06

nah fuck the street section off... cash for the 2 stair is better spent on a 1 inch extension to the bowl

full respect to Albert for getting involved

Leigh Boom 21:48 19/Aug/06

yep i'll be there if i can i'm all for a nice big bowl on the beach around the corner from Lovells place hell yeah

bowl

beavis 02:25 21/Aug/06

snake run into old school doughnut bowl, fuck yeah

Albert. 20:35 21/Aug/06

well I lose 10 bucks

Lovell was in tassie, so it was looking like a poor showing, but then Gutsy, Hale, Joel Webb, Hooker and especially for shutdown the hammer king himself Jake Duncombe showed up.

Considering this meeting was for the biggest publicly used park on the Gold Coast and a 30 year plan, of the 30 odd people who showed up, skateboarders represented over 20% of the people there.

Did us proud boys. Thanks.

Can not beleive I missed out, good to hear that some boys turned up though! Hey Albert give me a call and let me know what the go is, I am more than keen to get amongst it, haven't been on line for a few days...spewin I wasn't there.
