> R.I.P LOBBY LOYD
on Saturday night one of the greatest guitarist and easily one of the greaest Australian musicians of all time, passed away after losing his battle with lung cancer.
Lobby was and always will be a legend,
being in bands such as
The Aztecs
The Purple Hearts
& The Coloured Balls
who are all amazing clearly shows the amazing record this amazing man has had.
He has inspired bands such as ac/dc and many other big name acts
easily one of Australias greatest guitarists of all time
and will be very muchly missed
to me he will and always will be a legend and an Australian icon.
Australian and the music industry in general has taken a blow in the past couple of months
with the amazing and great man Billy Thorpe taken away from us suddenly
and now Lobby Loyd
2 of the best
who will both be very muchly missed
r.i.p
i just started reading the AC/DC book today and it had the story about barry lyde aka lobby loyde had a knife held to his throat because his hair was too long and george young headbutted the guy to save lobby.
R.I.P mate
Absolutely rockin' bloke - loud as fuck, ahead of his time.
He will be sorely missed.
yer bondiboy spot on way ahead of his time
and never gets the credit he deserves
its a shame so many people do not recognise/appreciate all that Lobby has done for Australian music
i belive his son is a very talented skater as well, he was in some of the illicit videos
sad news rip
If you saw thta 'Legends of Aust Music' or whatever it was called on the ABC you would have seen just how different he was to his contemporaries. He comes on after the likes of Little patty, Col Joye, even Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs doing some of their tame early stuff. Anyway, out comes Lobby Lloyd and The Coloured Balls and they literally BLEW the audience out of their seats. Amps up to 11, grinding distortion, rockin' speed...I swear the audience were in shock! Best tune of the whole show.
There is a Lobby Lloyd compilation that came out a few months ago, I must go buy it.
RIP
for me The Purple Hearts would have to be one of the most underrated bands ever
so amazing
and practically no one knows them, i recommend everyone to give them a listen in particular the song "of hopes and dreams"
ahh Lobby was a genius and always will be
i just saw the tomorrow night on rage the show will be dedicated to Lobby
will be tops i rekon
I saw him at the Espy about 6 years ago...the crowd where mostly old Melb Sharpes....it was an experience!
